It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our Momma Gretchen. She left this earth to soar with the Angels on June 7th, 2023 at 6:00 AM “sharp”.
Preceding her flight were her beloved Grandson Steven Alexander Johnson, Father William Fisher “Scotty” Adamson, Mother Martha Ann Adamson, Grandmother Gertrude Ann Cox (Lenard), Grandfather Thomas Jefferson (TJ) Cox, Grandmother Jane Fisher Adamson, Grandfather William Sharp Adamson, Aunt Shirley June Davis (Ron), Uncle Franklin Joseph Cox (Evelyn) and several Great Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Survived by her Daughters Debra Dawn Mahoney, Teresa Lynn Rison (Zackory Goodman), her Grandchildren Billy Mahoney (Nicole), Aiden Bales (Hoang Cao), Dakota Bales (Roxane Garcia), Frank Daly (Aly Maybury), Autumn Dawn (Mark Story), Great Grandchild Cirrus Story, Cousins Penny Simper (Doug), Paula Jackman and many other Cousins and close friends.
Gretchen was a dancer very early in life. She attended class at Cromwell School of Dance and performed at many other special events throughout the Country through High School. She continued with a Dance business “Gretchen’s Dance World” as a means to support her daughters as a single Mom in the 60’s. Each annual recital included a finale performance titled “We Three” with her beloved daughters. She was involved in many Civic organizations such as Red Mask Theatre, Danville Light Opera, The Masonic Temple, Jr. Women’s Club Follies, St Patrick Catholic Church, Danville High School musicals, Local USO shows and several other municipal events as a Choreographer and performer. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing into the morning hours at the local Disco establishment (Big Barrel).
Gretchen’s love for the Ocean and Beach was very strong. She spent several years in Southern California, then travelled the Country setting up new Wild Oats Markets. This gave her the opportunity to live on Maui for several years. That was definitely her “Happy Place”!
Later in life, Gretchen worked for Dr Akers Natural Health Clinic in Colorado for over two decades until her passing. She became an essential part of the healing mission. She coordinated operations for clinical staff and patients. Her firm hand and sweet nature were a perfect blend that resulted in lifetime patients and many enduring friendships that will continue long beyond her time with us.
Above all, Gretchen’s love for her family was immeasurable. She helped her two Daughters raise her Grandchildren with so much Love and Compassion. Whether it was taking the kids to School every day, an overnight with friends, shopping trips and many many fun activities. She was always there for us in every possible way. We all loved her so very much! She will be incredibly missed by us all!!
