Shamia (nee Payne) Wray-Salley

Shamia Payne, 45, Mother, Musician, Woman of Faith

Shamia Payne, aged 45, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on October

18, 2024. Born to Cecelia Elaine Payne and Rocky Pittman, Shamia was a beloved mother to

Darius Payne, sister to Tonika Clayton, and a cherished aunt to Shameion Payne, Johnny

Clayton Jr., Princeton Angulo, and Bleu Melody Payne.

As a devoted mother to Darius Payne, she poured her heart and soul into nurturing, guiding,

and loving him. Darius was the center of her universe, and her life's purpose revolved around

ensuring he felt cherished, supported, and inspired. From the moment he was born, Shamia

dedicated herself to creating a loving and nurturing environment for him, instilling in him values

of kindness, resilience, and faith. She celebrated every milestone in his life with boundless pride

and joy, always encouraging him to pursue his dreams and be his true self. Their bond was one

of unconditional love, with Shamia always there to offer a listening ear, wise advice, and a

comforting embrace.

The bond Shamia shared with Shameion was one of mutual support and deep affection, a

testament to her nurturing spirit. Shamia was not just an aunt; she was a confidante and a role

model to Shameion. Their relationship was built on a foundation of trust and love, with countless

memories of heartfelt conversations, shared laughter, and the unwavering support Shamia

provided during life's challenges.

Tonika, Shamia’s sister, offered heartfelt prayers for her life and love, promising to be a light that

would let Shamia's spirit continue to shine. Tonika's unwavering commitment to carrying forward

Shamia’s spirit and legacy exemplifies the deep bond they shared.

Shamia was raised with the love and care of her aunts, Barbara "Ann" Davis and Sophia

Pittman, who were her guiding lights during difficult times. Their unwavering support and

wisdom helped shape Shamia into the compassionate, resilient woman she became.

Her cousins, Latasha and Leneisha, along with many others, were pillars of strength for Shamia,

especially during challenging times. Their unwavering love and support provided her with

comfort and resilience.

Her passion for music was a defining feature of her life. Shamia's raps and songs reflected her

soul, each piece telling a story of strength, love, and faith. She found immense joy in sharing her

love of music with children and treasured every moment spent with her family.

Shamia will be profoundly missed by her husband Zack, who was her steadfast partner and

support. Their love and devotion to each other was a beacon of strength for their family.

A joyful celebration of Shamia’s life, as she wished, will be held in both Denver, CO, and

Houston, TX, in June 2025, honoring her enduring spirit and profound love for her family.

Shamia’s radiant presence and boundless love will forever be a beacon of light in the lives of all

who knew her. Her legacy of unwavering faith, profound love, and love of music will continue to

inspire and resonate through generations, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.
